Using 1-2-Convert!

To convert values from one unit to another, just follow these steps:

Choose the category of the conversion using the select-button (ò) in the top left corner of the calculator
Choose the source unit using the select-button (ò) next to the first value-field,
Choose the destination unit using the select-button (ò) next to the second value-field,
Type in the value you wish to convert using the digit buttons or Graffiti.

The change-sign button (+/-) changes the sign of the source value.

Use the switch-button (ñò) to swap source- and destination unit.

The clear-button (CLR) sets the input value to zero.

Use the arithmetic buttons (÷,×,+,-,=) to do simple calculations

Decimal/Fractional mode

To display values as fractions, use the fractional buttons (FRACT)
To switch back into decimal mode, press the button again (it is now labeled DEC)

To enter values in fractional mode, follow these examples:

to enter 3 1/2, press: 3 SPACE 1 / 2
to enter 11/12, press: 1 1 / 1 2

Changing conversion factors

If you want to change the factor of a specific conversion (for example to change the rate of US$ to Euro), follow these steps:

Press the button labeled 'Unit Definition'
Select the conversion you wish to update (in our example: US Dollar ïð Euro)
Change the formula using the displayed keyboard (press the back (ï) button repeatedly to delete the value, then type the new rate using the digit-buttons)
Press 'OK' to close the Edit-window
Press 'OK' to close the unit list

Adding a new unit definition

To add a new unit definition, follow these steps

Press the button labeled 'Unit Definition'
Press the 'New' button
Enter the name of source and destination unit using Graffiti.
Enter the conversion formula using the keyboard
Press 'OK' to close the Edit-window
Press 'OK' to close the unit list

Example:

You wish to convert unit A into unit B. The formula to calculate B is: B = A x 12.4
Enter 'A' into the source unit field
Enter 'B' into the destination unit field
enter: * 1 2 . 4 on the keyboard to set the formula.

Deleting a unit definition

To delete a unit definition, follow these steps:

Press the button labeled 'Unit Definition'
Select the definition you wish to delete
Press the 'Delete' button
Choose 'OK'
Press 'OK' to close the unit list

Edit Menu

The Edit Menu provides two functions: Copy and Paste. Copy puts the converted value into the PalmPilot's clipboard, Paste puts the clipboard's content into the 'source'-field of 1-2-Convert!. These two functions can be used to exchange values with other applications.

Example: To transfer a value from 1-2-Convert! into the Pilot's Expense-application, just choose 'Copy' from the edit menu, start the Expense-application, and choose 'Paste' from the Expense-application's menu.

White background for the display

Using the "Preferences"-option in the "Options"-menu it is possible to set a white background for the screen display in order to increase the contrast.

Registration

1-2-Convert! offers a 30-days trial period, during which you may use and distribute the program freely. After expiry of the period, the program will refuse to work.

To register the software (for $8), you may place an order either via internet, phone or fax:

Either way you will receive a registration key, which has to be entered by pressing the 'Enter Key'-button in the About-box of 1-2-Convert!. If the trial period is already expired, you will be asked to enter the key on start of 1-2-Convert!.
