SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS

Gem Slider 3 works on the systems based on PalmOS 4.0 and later platforms that support screen resolution 320x320 and 65000 colors: Sony Clie PEG-SJ30, PEG-T665C, PEG-T650C, PEG-NR70, PEG-NR70V, PEG-T600C, PEG-T615C, PEG-T625C, PEG-N770C, PEG-N760C, PEG-N750C, PEG-N610C, PEG-NZ90, PEG-NX70V, PEG-NX60.

This game works also under PalmOS 5.0 and later: Palm Tungsten T and others coming in the near future.

INTRODUCTION

You can learn to play "Gem Slider" in a couple of minutes but if you want to win - you will need to try hard :). The goal is simple - to remove all the gems from the board, by sliding gems from the sides of the board. When four or more gems of the same color come together (including sliding gem or gem it has pushed) they all disappear.

There are four game modes:

SHOOT-OUT- In this game mode there are no new gems added within the game. A few gems are added only if you clear out a color. You have a certain number of moves to do it, and the fewer colors remains, the fewer moves you have.
STRATEGY - In this game mode your goal is to avoid misses, ant try to gain as many points as you cam. The more misses - the more new gems are added to the board, but those new gems give you stuff to get further points. Try to keep the balance..
ARCADE - Here you have to make moves as quickly as possible. The bigger period of time you think over the next move, the more points you lose. Each second takes 1 point from the first gem, 2 points for the second etc. Thus, waiting more than 10 seconds, you get 0 for the first gem, 0 for the second and so on. Timer is placed in the bottom right corner.
SNIPER - The goal of the game is to clear the board with as little number of moves as possible. In this game mode you got points for the number of moves made - 1 point for each move, so that the fewer points you get, the better for the game.

DOWNLOADING

To download Gem Slider 3, use the standard Palm DeskTop HotSync process or equivalent to install the PRC file on your device.

Attention! For a perfect work of the game please install a correct file: for Sony Clie - GemSliderClie.prc, for PalmOS 5 - GemSliderOS5.prc.

PLAYING THE GAME

Tap a gem that is located along the border of the board, a new gem will appear close to it, and it will begin to slide towards the opposite side of the board. It will slide until it hits the border of the board or another gem. If that gem doesn't have such a neighbour, the sliding gem will push it until it will hit the board's border or a gem. When four or more gems of the same color come together (including sliding gem or gem it has pushed) they all disappear. If you remove all the gems of some color, that type of gems won't appear anymore and your score doubles. The more gems are removed at once - the more points you get.

1. Unicolor Game. The gems at the sides of the board are of the same color.

2. Quadcolor Game. The gems at each side of the board are of different colors.

3. Smart Mix Game. The next color to come is shown but it will come only to the side of the board from which you shoot.

4. Advanced Mix Game. The next colors are shown for each side but the color changes only at the side from which you make a move.

Score calculation
The points are calculated in the following way: 10 points for the first gem, twice as much for the second, three times as much for the third, and so forth.

Splash screen

However good-looking it is, after a hundred launches you are going to be sick of this spectacular splash screen. That's why you can interrupt it, just pointing with stylus at any place on the board.

"Menu" Window

You can call Menu right from the game, clicking the button Menu on your device. It also appears at first launching of the game.

CONTINUE - appears if you have an unfinished game.
NEW GAME - launches new game. Attention ! If the game is not finished it will be interrupted without any warning. Be careful not to lose your game. Also, there is AUTORUN option for game (see below)
PICK GAME - all game modes are listed to choose from
OPTIONS - game options - sound, effects, skill level, and others
HELP - here you can receive short help and information about us
TOP 10 - here your best results, which you can publish on the net, are stored
BUY ME - information how to register the game (*)
REGISTER - the form for entering the registration info (*)
EXIT - to quit the game (you can quit the game clicking the button applications from any window of the program)

(*) - these items will be removed from the Menu after registration

Attention! All windows except the main one are dialogs. You can leave them using buttons (OK) and (CANCEL).

"Pick Game" Window

In Window "Pick Game" you can choose type of the game (Unicolor, Quadcolor, Samrt Mix, Advanced Mix) and game mode (Shoot-out, Strategy, Arcade, Sniper).

"Effects" Window

There is a possibility of the game running slow on 33 MHz processor devices. For acceleration, you can set graphic effects to low or turn them off completely. Game and interface effects change independently. There are three levels of effects:

OFF - all effects are turned off (all windows appear and disappear without delay)
LOW - minimal effects (windows appear and disappear with text animation)
HIGH - all effects are turned on

You can also change effects in the "OPTIONS" window. This window will appear at every start of the game. To turn off this window, set up the flag DO NOT SHOW AGAIN. You can to turn it on again in the "OPTIONS" window.

"Options" Window

You can set up your preferences in the window "OPTIONS". To change the option's value, just click the appropriate option name

GAMEPLAY LEVEL - here you can change the game level (EasyRide, Rovice, Expert, Master) (*)
SOUND - here you can tune the sound volume (off, low, high)
AUTORUN - the option that allows you to start the game without the splash screen and menu (after the program launching you go directly to the playing field) (*)
INTERFACE/GAMEPLAY EFFECTS - For the game speeding up you can set effects to LOW. There are three modes of effects:

OFF - all effects are turned off (all windows appear and disappear right away)
LOW - minimum effects (windows appear and disappear with text animation)
HIGH - all effects are turned on

EFFECTS REMINDER - turn on/turn off of effects window appearing for every start of the game.
SKINS - you can also set the skins pleasing you eyes by clicking the corresponding gems.

(*) - these options are active in the registered version of the game .

"TOP 10" Window

You can look at best game results in this window.

UNICOLOR/QUADCOLOR/SAMRT MIX/ADV.MIX - this button displays the results for different game types
SHOOT-OUT/STRATEGY/ARCADE/SNIPER - this button displays the results for different game modes.
EASYRIDE/NOVICE/MASTER/EXPERT - this button displays the results for different levels
PUBLISH - this button opens the window with the code for publishing the best result on the Web

"PUBLISH" Window

"BUY ME" Window

It contains the information about where and how you can register the game. This window appears also as the reminder in the course of the game, with growing frequency.

"REGISTER" Window

Enter your license information into the form: fill First and Last names into the first and second lines, respectively, and the license code into the last one. Two NAME fields has room for 12 characters each, including spaces; if your name, or surname, is longer just stop when no room is left, the registration code will still work. Using the virtual keyboard, you can enter letters, digits, a period, a dash and a space. You can choose the line tapping it with the stylus, the cursor (a blinking point) will show the line where you are now. When you begin typing, the prompts (FIRST/LAST NAME, REG CODE) will disappear.
Typing is done by means of the virtual keyboard, where the special buttons mean:

SPACE - space symbol
BSP - backspace (deletes of the symbol before the cursor)
CLR - deletes the whole line
