Fonts4OS5 version 3.30
Manual |
After starting the Fonts4OS5 application you
will see a screen which will let you select fonts: |
 |
 |
PalmOne devices |
Sony Clie devices |
From this screen you can select new fonts for your
device. After starting Fonts4OS5 you will notice popups "Applications"
and "All applications".
Tapping
on the first Popup
you can choose between "Applications",
"Categories", "Hidden apps" (e.g. applications which are not visible in Launcher, but are launched from other applications as subroutines) and "Apps on card" (e.g., all applications in \Palm\Launcher folder).
From the second popup you can choose "All applications" or select specific
application on your PDA. If you want to change fonts for all applications
at once - the same font (font pack) then select "All applications". If you
want to have different fonts for different applications, you should select
applications and fonts one by one.
You can also first select a font for "All applications" and then change
fonts one by one in selected applications. Then all applications except
for
the selected ones will use the same font.
|
Another option for selecting fonts is to choose fonts according to
Categories. If you see in Categories choices "-=NONE=-" then you did not
specify any Categories for applications (default after installing). If you
want you can then define such categories (in Menu->Options->Category).
After doing it, you can assign different fonts to different categories.
Make sure that you have some applications in selected Categories - more
about Categories later.
Precedence for fonts in your applications is as follows:
- Fonts selected for specific application.
- Fonts selected for specific Category.
- Fonts selected for "All applications".
|
In some cases you may want to change fonts for applications which are
"hidden", or are on the memory card. You can do this by selecting on the
first popup "Hidden apps" or "Apps on card". It is of course possible,
that
no "hidden" applications or "applications on card" are in your device and
then you will see only the label "-=NONE=-". |
If you decide for which Application or Category you want to select fonts,
then tap one of the "Abc >" buttons to select the desired font. Those
buttons show sizes of fonts (Normal, Bold, Large and Large Bold). For Sony
Clie device, you will also see four small "Abc >" buttons for changing
Sony
Clie's small fonts.
 |
After you tap one of these buttons, the display changes to the "Font
Manager" screen, in which you can select one of the font packs which you
downloaded during installation. In the "Font Manager"
screen you can also
"Preview" each font in each of the four sizes by tapping on one of the "A"
buttons.
If the "Select font pack" is checked, then all four sizes of the font pack
are automatically assigned to the basic four font sizes in each
application, for which you want to change fonts.
If you want to change the size of fonts and are not satisfied with the
selection from the font pack, then uncheck "Select font pack" and select
only one font size. In this case you must do it for each size of font by
tapping on the button "Abc >" (selection of font size from "font pack".
You
get to this selection by tapping on button "A" in the desired size.
After you have selected a font from a font pack
tap on the "Select" button.
If you don't want to confirm a selected font - tap the "Cancel" button.
If you want to delete a selected font - tap the "Delete" button.
|
If "Select font pack" is checked you will see: |
If you selected different sizes for different fonts, you will see: |
 |
 |
As the last step check the "Activate" check
box and leave Fonts4OS5 by tapping the "Done" button. |
If you want to reset fonts to "Default" - tap the "Set to default" button
- fonts will be reset for selected applications (or categories,
respectively). Another choice is to select "Set all to defaults" in Menu and fonts
will be reset for all applications including hidden applications,
applications on card and for all categories. |

|
Description of Options |
-
Command bar activation -
Fonts4OS5
can
be activated
by tapping the
FOS5 icon in the command bar.
- Activate after Reset - automatic activation after Reset.
- Automatically move unused fonts to card - unused fonts are automatically
moved to memory card.
- Table.c bugs correction -
correction of small font issues (smaller then 22 px) in some built-in
applications (e.g. Address, Date Book, ToDo) on certain PalmOne devices.
Unfortunately this does not fix all issues (e.g. in Agenda view in Date
Book). For a proper font display in built-in applications, I do recommend
using patched applications (Address, Date Book, ToDo) that can be downloaded
from
http://www.lubak.net/fos5apps.zip
- White spaces in menus correction -
white spaces width and height in the
menus with fonts smaller than 22 px are appropriately adjusted.
NOTE: If you have some conflicts between Fonts4OS5 and other applications,
try to uncheck some of those options.
|
Troubles:
- If you have problems when starting your
PDA after Soft Reset - try "No-notify
(warm) reset" and then uncheck "Activate after Soft Reset"
in Fonts4OS5.
